Meet the founder and owner of Sonic Art. Bill Grishaw is an award winning composer, performer and engineer with 30+ years experience creating memorable music and sound for brands and customers worldwide. As a curiously creative child, Bill began his formal education and love affair with music at 7 years old. After being awarded best in class four years in a row by the American Guild Association, Bill expanded his fascination with music into jazz, electronic and pop genres, computer language and audio recording. At 20, Bill began working in his first recording studio and shortly after returned for his formal education at Full Sail University, focusing on tapeless studio recording and electronic music.
In 1997 after working at several studios on the east coast, Bill launched his own studio, Rainmaker Recording and Creative in Richmond VA. In his pursuit of international level clientele, he partnered with Roger D'Arcy of Recording Architecture of London to build a state of the art 5000 sq ft recording facility in the Shockoe Bottom area of Richmond VA. Next Bill focused on the abstract of music creation through a partnership with alt rock celebrity David Lowery of Cracker and entertainment lawyer Kirk Schroeder to form a music company called 804. After several years of creative and financial success, Bill sold his interests in all his businesses to focus on his passion for music, recording and education. Today, Bill is giving back through education and the transmission of his experience with students interested in learning more about unraveling the intangible essence of music and it’s creation, performance, production and sharing.
